The Vertical Jump Development Bible comes third in our review.

Kelly Baggett at least answered our email even if he turned down our request to put us in touch with real athletes (his website currently doesn't display any testimonials - you apparently get access to these AFTER you have bought his book).

This program has the same down-to-earth feel as The Jump Manual, and it's pretty clear Baggett knows his stuff: the program seems to be based on scientific principles. His explanations of these principles, however, are at times difficult to understand.

This program is reasonably priced but you wouldn't want to pay more: it is PDF document with some photos.

So what exactly do you get with Vertical Jump Development Bible?:

However, half of the 140 page document is focussed on exercise descriptions (great if you like this sort of stuff !):

  • Control and stability (how well can you control and coordinate your body?)
  • General Strength (how solid is your foundation? - you can’t fire a cannon out of a canoe)
  • Range of Motion (can you get into the right positions to generate force?)
  • Maximum Strength (how much horsepower do you have and is it enough?)
  • Maximum Power (how well do you use your maximum horsepower?)
  • Starting Strength (how quickly can you apply force?)
  • Force Absorption Training (a flat basketball doesn’t bounce because it can’t redirect force)
  • Reactive training (your body is already wired to act like a loaded spring but can you take full advantage of it?)
  • Short response reactive training (skip over ground and take off like a rock skipping on water)
  • Speed of movement (how fast can you move?)


According to his website, he gained almost 20 inches applying these principles. We think this program can work, but wading through the long text is difficult. Visually and organizationally, this program is less likely to get you excited about getting the vertical you want.

Overall, though, this program will probably still get you results while being the lowest priced. The problem is, his only guarantee is results—not a specific number of inches.
